CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Starting Monday morning, riders will be able to take the blue line to and from uptown. After Tropical Storm Michael caused costly damages to the light rail’s power system, crews diligently worked to repairs the poles and overhead wiring for the last 11 days.

Some riders told NBC Charlotte the service disruption added upwards of an hour to their commute. Long lines waiting for a bus backed up to the train tracks.

The damage was between the New Bern and 36 Street stations, but starting at Scaleybark and Sugar Creek, riders had to get off the train and catch a CATs shuttle bus.

Good news on this chilly morning, riders can stay put on the light rail. No buses will be needed to transport passengers. The LYNX Blue Line is operating back to normal, as well as the City LYNX Streetcar service.
