CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are conducting a homicide investigation after a man was stabbed to death in west Charlotte Tuesday night.
CMPD responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 3200 block of Timberbrook Drive around 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a man with apparent stab wounds.
The stabbing victim was transported to CMC where he was later pronounced dead. He has been identified as Kwame Deese.
Following initial stages of the investigation, a physical altercation took place involving a group of individuals. During the fight, police say Johnny Bee Boyd stabbed Deese and left the scene.
Deese was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with murder.
CMPD told NBC Charlotte's crew on the scene the man's death marks Charlotte's 74th homicide of 2017.
