CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged a 20-year-old man with the murder of a teenager back in 2016.

CMPD said Arshaun Springs turned himself into the sheriff’s office on Monday. He's accused in connection with the death of 18-year-old Tanya Lashay Williams.

Around 2:30 p.m. on December 20, 2015, police said Williams was dropped off at Carolina’s Medical Center with a gunshot wound. Detectives later determined the shooting happened in the 1600 block of Vancouver Drive.

Witnesses told police Williams was inside a car with other people when the shooting happened. She died from her injuries on August 11, 2016. Warrants were then obtained on Springs for murder.
