Mecklenburg County Commissioner Jim Puckett released a statement in opposition to the resolution, saying, "This isn’t support of Muslims, it is support of a religious event."
The resolution was among many items discussed by the County Board of Commissioners Tuesday evening. The agenda item was initially pushed back in the scheduled, but was brought back towards the first items discussed.
