TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. -- The Central Alexander/Taylorsville Fire Department took to Twitter Tuesday to announce the death of one of their firefighters.

"It is with our deepest sympathy that we make the following statement," the station tweeted. "Today, Central Alexander/Taylorsville Fire Department lost a member and friend, Eric 'Bubba Pennell.'"



According to the Carolina Brotherhood, a group with a mission to provide emotional and financial support for the families of those who lost their lives in the line of duty from the Carolinas, the Pennell's death occurred while he was in the line of duty.

"The brotherhood is sad to learn of the #LineOfDuty death of Taylorsville CAFD Firefighter Bubba Pennell," the group tweeted.



The Central Alexander/Taylorsville Fire Department says visitations and funeral plans are incomplete as of Tuesday morning.
