Mom warns other parents about troublesome toy

"I was like, 'Are we going to have to shave her head?'" Melanie Seeley said.

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- A Huntersville mom is warning other parents about Bunchems. The popular kids' toy sent her into a panic Saturday night.

“I was like, 'Are we going to have to shave her head?'” Melanie Seeley said.

Melanie's daughter, Arielle, tried to make a brand-new hair accessory over the weekend.

“She had decided to make a decoration on top of her headband,” explained Melanie.

Unfortunately, the balls rolled backwards and Arielle’s little brother, Jake, decided to have some fun at her expense.

“So he now thinks it’s funny and grabs a bunch more of them and sticks them in,” Melanie said.

In a matter of minutes, 50 Bunchems were stuck in Arielle's hair, and they weren’t coming out. An hour into combing, with no end in sight, panic set in.

“We had barely made a dent, and that’s when I posted on Facebook, 'Does anyone have any idea how to get these out of her hair?'” said Melanie.

The post took off. Other moms complained it had happened to their little ones, too.

NBC Charlotte checked, and the company does warn to keep Bunchems away from hair. However, they seem to be aware their primary clientele may not be reading the instructions. In fact, there's an instructional YouTube video on how to get the toys out of hair.

Luckily, after a lot of conditioner and even more patience -- four hours to be exact -- the Bunchems were successfully removed.

Arielle now has a warning for other little boys and girls: “Not to put it in your hair.”
