Road ragers: NC ranks high on aggressive driving list

A new report from Gasbuddy revealed North Carolinians aren't so friendly on the roads.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A new report from Gasbuddy revealed North Carolinians aren’t so friendly on the roads. The study ranked the state 5th in the nation for aggressive driving.

The app followed millions of drivers looking at hard braking, speeding, and acceleration.

“You do see some aggressive drivers out there. It’s not as bad as, I feel like I’ve been in other states where it’s worse, driving through big cities like Atlanta, Boston,” driver Kevin Hickey said.

The report also warned aggressive driving habits, like speeding up and sudden hard braking, is a fast way to waste gas. On average, those drivers spend an extra $477 a year on gas and lower their gas mileage by as much as 40 percent.

Rounding out the top five states with the most aggressive driving: California, Connecticut, Georgia, Texas, North Carolina.
