SC teen charged following bathroom picture prank

The photo went viral and eventually got back to the 15-year-old victim. He notified the school resource officer who immediately opened an investigation.

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A school prank got a 14-year-old boy in serious trouble.

Rock Hill Police said the student secretly snapped a picture of another teenage boy sitting on the toilet. Investigators said the accused student texted the image to a friend, and from there, the picture went viral.

“The whole school found out about it,” said Mark Bollinger, a spokesperson for Rock Hill Police.

The image traveled so far, it even reached a local middle school and hit every popular social media site.

The photo eventually got back to the 15-year-old victim who had no idea the picture was taken. He notified the school resource officer who immediately opened an investigation.

Surveillance video led police to the 14-year-old suspect who admitted he took the picture and sent it to a friend at another school. The teen was arrested on Tuesday.

The 14-year-old was charged with dissemination/promotion of obscenity and will be prosecuted in family court.

School counselors are working with the 15-year-old victim to help him deal with the incident.
