Lincoln County father, son involved in deadly stabbing identified

Authorities said 21-year-old Nicholas Benjamin Lynch was treated at the scene for minor injuries then charged with 2nd degree murder.

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. -- A father who was stabbed multiple times by his son Thursday has died, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

21-year-old Nicholas Benjamin Lynch is charged with 2nd degree murder in his father's death in Lincoln County.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. at 1821 Tomes Road off Buffalo Shoals Road in Lincolnton. The sheriff's office said deputies were responding to a call about a domestic dispute.

Deputies said they found 59-year-old Oswald Lynch lying in the front yard with several stab wounds. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said 21-year-old Nicholas Benjamin Lynch was treated at the scene for minor injuries then charged with 2nd degree murder. He was placed on a one million dollar secured bond. His first court appearance is set for Friday.

Neighbors were heartbroken to learn the tragic news.

"They were very nice people, and I want to send prayers to the family," said one neighbor.

Investigators said they found a large knife at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
