CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a motor vehicle collision that took place in northwest Charlotte Tuesday. 

CMPD says early information indicates that a child of "approximately 12-years-old" was struck by the vehicle.

MEDIC confirmed reports that the scene of the accident was in the 4800 block of Tuckaseegee Road. The collision victim was transported to CMC for potentially life-threatening injuries, authorities say.
