CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. -- A North Carolina Highway Patrolman was struck by a car Wednesday evening while responding to a traffic accident.
The incident occurred on Highway 321 at the River Road exit early Wednesday evening.
NBC Charlotte's crew on scene says a vehicle traveling at a low rate of speed struck the officer, who was outside of his vehicle assisting with another motor vehicle crash.
The trooper was taken to the hospital, though, there's no word on his condition.
Alcohol and speed are not considered as factors in the incident, however, the weather is. No charges have been filed at this time.
