CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A water main break shut down a busy Myers Park road Monday morning.

According to Charlotte Water, crews were dispatched to the intersection of Queens Road West and Radcliffe Avenue around 6:15 a.m.

Charlotte Fire later confirmed that Queens Road West was closed due to the water main break. Residents notified Charlotte Water of lower-than-usual water pressure in their homes before water was seen gushing from underground.

Officials say the roots from a large tree likely caused the break.
