Today's One Good Thing is a little different, in that I'm not directly crediting the people involved. Hopefully, they know who they are. But, far more important is simply what they did.
There's a young girl -- a 6th grader -- at a school in Grand Rapids Michigan, Allendale Middle School, who's been struggling lately. Four or five other girls decided to do something to make her smile. They got her a gift box -- bright pink -- with candy, a hand-written note and sunglasses with a tag that says "block the haters."
There were a few other things in there, too. Including a few slips of paper that said things like, "beautiful voice," "super funny" and "you are loved."
The most important thing we can do for any child in this world is what that last note said: let them know they are loved.
