CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Tar Heel fans continued to celebrate their sixth national championship into the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Franklin Street in Chapel Hill was covered in Carolina blue as Tar Heel nation swarmed the street.
"The experience of winning a NCAA championship game while you're enrolled at the school is incomparable to anything else in your lifetime," a celebrating student said. "The sense of excitement, accomplishment, companionship, championship incomparable."
Current students weren't the only ones celebrating. A lifelong Tar Heel fan joined the crowds Tuesday night, telling NBC Charlotte he has been witness to UNC bringing home all six of their championship trophies.
But feelings of pride and joy aren't just in Chapel Hill. Tar Heel fans continue to celebrate the victory across the nation.
"Just the spirit, the atmosphere, the people, the players, I love it all," one UNC super-fan told NBC Charlotte at the Phoenix arena.
Bars were packed Tuesday evening as Charlotteans gathered to cheer on North Carolina. Even UNC grad Mayor Roberts joined fans in the celebration at Moo & Brew in Plaza Midwood.
Excitement and pride is sure to continue throughout North Carolina. The Duke Energy building in Uptown, Charlotte was light up in Carolina blue Tuesday morning.
