MOORESVILLE, N.C. – The Lake Norman Wildcats had themselves a huge night Friday, taking down archrival Mooresville 24-14 to claim the North Piedmont Conference championship.

Beyond beating their biggest rivals, Lake Norman also kept their undefeated season going, advancing to 10-0 with the playoffs looming.

Rob McNeely’s team struck first against the Blue Devils when Cole Jackson plowed in from one yard out. After a Lake Norman field goal, Mooresville quarterback Chris Murrell connected with Lazarus Hayes for a 15-yard touchdown.

Quarterback Cole Ladowski put the game out of reach with a 14-yard touchdown run, extending Lake Norman’s lead to 24-7. The Wildcats wrap up the regular season at home against North Lincoln (2-8, 2-4 NPC).
