WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest Cougars made it back-to-back titles in 4AA competition Saturday, defeating the Mallard Creek Mavericks 21-0 at BB&T Field in Winston-Salem.
Wake Forest’s defense proved to be too much for Mike Palmieri’s team, who only managed 112 yards of total offense during the game. Devon Lawrence carried the load for Wake Forest in the game, rushing for 135 yards on 25 carries. Lawrence earned MVP honors after scoring the final touchdown with just over a minute to play.
Nasjzae Bryant had a solid outing for Mallard Creek, rushing for 106 yards on 20 carries.
