COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Williams-Brice Stadium, the home of the South Carolina Gamecocks, suffered minor damage because of the effects of Hurricane Matthew as the storm moved along the east coast Friday.

Hurricane Matthew moved along South Carolina's coast overnight Friday into Saturday. It was a category 2 and eventually became a category 1 storm while hovering by the state.

Above the press box were letters that spelled out "South Carolina Gamecocks." Saturday, pictures shared on social media revealed that some of the letters were missing as a result of the storm.

As of now, there is no other known damage to the stadium.

The Georgia Bulldogs and South Carolina Gamecocks were originally scheduled to play at Williams-Brice Stadium Saturday at 7:30 p.m. It was rescheduled for Sunday at 2:30 p.m. because of the threat of the hurricane, and the schools did not want to pull resources away from the storm relief effort.
