MOORESVILLE, N.C.- The first Karting Against Cancer event was held at the GoPro Motorplex this week as fans and the NASCAR community came together to raise money for the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation.

The event raised more than $20,000 for the foundation, which supports childhood and ovarian cancer.

Truex's longtime girlfriend and the creator of, Sherry Pollex, also participated in the event. She's part of the motivation behind the foundation, as she battles ovarian cancer for a second time.

Truex wasn't able to attend, because this weekend he'll race for a championship at Homestead and on Tuesday he had the opportunity to be on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
