For the third-straight year, the Charlotte Knights honored the legacy of the Negro Leagues on Tuesday.
Five former Negro League players, including Charlotte resident Eddie "G.G." Burton were at the Knights game greeting fans, current players, signing autographs, and throwing out ceremonial first pitches.
The Knights also welcomed Negro League historians, and featured photos, artifacts, historical displays and more.
In addition, the team celebrated Jackie Robinson breaking baseball's color barrier in April of 1947 -- 70 years ago.
"It means an awful lot," said Burton, who played for the Harrisburg Giants from 1947-1955. "I give a lot of credit to teams like the Charlotte Knights, who have chosen to honor us here at the ball field."
The former Negro League players also got to meet some of the current players.
"They don't believe some of the stories that I tell them," Burton said. "Because it's nothing like it is today. Guys don't know how lucky they are."
The Knights beat the Pawtucket Red Sox, 3-1, and will be home again Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m.
