CHARLOTTE, N.C.- When Captain Munnerlyn walked out of Bank of America Stadium for the final time as a Panther four years ago, he thought there was a chance it might not really be for the last time.

"I'm glad to be back, glad to be home. This is where my career started. This is the organization that gave me the opportunity to play at a high level, at the next level and I'm happy to be back," Munnerlyn said.

After two years in Minnesota, Munnerlyn is back. And it wasn't just the familiar faces that helped make up his mind.

"I'd seen the moves they were doing in free agency and I was like, 'OK, they're trying to get back to the Super Bowl,'" Munnerlyn said.

"TD (Thomas Davis), Luke (Kuechly), Charles Johnson and all those guys was like come on back! That was a big part too to come back and play with those guys and finish what we started."

Munnerlyn literally watched from the sidelines as the Panthers went on their Super Bowl run in 2015; Charles Johnson gave him box seats as Carolina defeated Arizona in the NFC Championship at Bank of America Stadium.

"To see those guys excel, and to see them go to the Super Bowl, it was big. I was happy for them," Munnerlyn said.

But now, he's happy for another opportunity, to be the guy who celebrates with them.

"They gave a little ole boy from Mobille, Alabama a chance to play a game that I love. So I always have a special place in my heart for the Carolina Panthers, now I'm ready to make that Super Bowl run and win it," Munnerlyn.
