CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charles Johnson is now a Carolina Panther.
No, not defensive end Charles Johnson, who signed a two-year extension with the team.
Meet wide receiver Charles Johnson, a three-year NFL veteran that has signed a one-year contract with Carolina. Johnson spent the first three seasons of his career with Minnesota and comes to Carolina with Vikings teammates Matt Kalil and Captain Munnerlyn.
"Me and my agent were talking about it for a long time," Johnson told Panthers.com. "He said, 'Man, you're really fast and Cam Newton has a really strong arm. If those two intersect, it can be a good thing.'
Johnson's 2016 was a bit of a struggle, as the Grand Valley State product caught just 20 passes and failed to score a touchdown. He has 60 career receptions since making his debut in 2014.
