CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Former Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Star Lotulelei is expected to sign with the Buffalo Bills at the open of free agency, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Lotulelei, who was drafted by the Panthers with the No. 14 overall pick in 2013, became a free agent after playing last season under a fifth-year team option on his rookie contract. According to Schefter, Lotulelei’s deal will be for five years. The finances of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

Lotulelei will be reunited with former Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, who led Buffalo to its first playoff appearance since the 1999 season in 2017.

In 75 career starts with Carolina, Lotulelei compiled 11.5 sacks and 84 solo tackles. He also recovered two fumbles for the Panthers.
