CHARLOTTE - There are plenty of big questions as the Panthers get ready for Training Camp.

Charlotte Today host and former Panthers safety Eugene Robinson gives some insight on how the team is shaping up.

Will Cam Newton be ready for training camp after his off-season rotator cuff surgery?

Eugene: This is entirely up to Cam Newton, how well he's progressing. The training staff will try and move him along slowly. But as a football player, he's chomping at the bit to get out there. He can't wait to get out there to get back with his guys Kelvin Benjamin, Devin Funchess and Greg Olsen. He cannot wait. But what you have to do is, slow him down because you want a healthy Cam Newton ready for the entire season and not just 1 or 2 games.

Will Luke Kuechly be himself after his scary concussion?

Luke will be just fine. He had a sensational OTA's, moving fast. The team did a great job of shutting him down last year so he could be ready for years to come.

Is Christian McCaffrey worth the hype?

I say absolutely. this young man has good peripheral vision. He can play in the backfield and be a running back. He can be a slot receiver. He can do it all. What I like about him is his ability to hit the hole. So when he decides to go ahead and move and hit the hole, he's gone. He puts his feet in the ground and he's gone. Christian McCaffrey was one of the best steals in the draft in my opinion.

What's the biggest reason you're optimistic about the 2017 season?

I can't go anywhere without someone saying will the Panthers get back to their winning ways? I say yes. Let's look at the offensive line. Let's look at the Kalil brothers. Trai Turner (signed a 4-year extension). Outstanding. Then look at the receivers. Kelvin Benjamin. Devin Funchess. And Greg Olsen. And then you get a healthy Cam Newton back. And don't forget on the defensive side of the ball. You brought back Julius Peppers. You've already got Mario Addison (led the team in sacks). Kawann Short. Our guys are chomping at the bit to go out there and make some magic. I see their winning ways continuing.
