CHARLOTTE - A busy Tuesday for the Panthers was headlined by the re-signing of veteran defensive end Charles Johnson.
Johnson signed a two-year contract extension that keeps him in Charlotte through the 2018 season.
A team captain for three straight seasons, Johnson has played 11 years in the NFL, all with the Panthers. He's second in franchise history with 67.5 sacks.
“I have two years to prove myself and ball out for the team that I love,” Johnson said via a release from the team. “I’m going to give everything I’ve got. I love this group. I love the coaches. I love everybody up top. It’s just loyalty at its finest.”
The Panthers also re-signed Charlotte Latin grad Brenton Bersin to a one-year deal, and safety Colin Jones to a two-year deal.
