CHARLOTTE - Panthers head coach Ron Rivera took a different approach to the team's slow start.

While many are criticizing the team for its 1-3 beginning fo the 2016 season, and some fans are panicking, Rivera says he's "Excited."

"This is a challenge," he said Monday. "I'm excited. I really am. I told the guys. Hell this to me is a challenge. And we're going to find out exactly what we're made of."

Carolina fell to Atlanta 48-33 in the Georgia Dome Sunday, letting up 503 yards passing to Matt Ryan and 300 yards receiving to Julio Jones, both the worst in Panthers history.

But Rivera said he is confident that his team can play at a high level for the next 12 games, beginning Monday night at home against Tampa Bay.

"I'm confident," he said. "I think we're a good football team. I think we have good football players. I think we have a good core. But we haven't played like it."
