CHARLOTTE - Three Charlotte 49ers baseball players were drafted in the first ten rounds of the Major League Baseball draft.

Second baseman Brett Netzer led the way, selected in the third round by the Boston Red Sox. The Fort Mill HS graduate becomes the fourth-highest draft selection in program history.

"We're really happy for Brett," said Head Coach Loren Hibbs. "It shows that the hard work he put in pays off. It's a testament to his work ethic and willingness to learn. He will work hard for the Boston Red Sox and he'll be a great piece to their organization."

Pitcher Colton Laws (7th round, Blue Jays) and outfielder T.J. Nichting (9th round, Orioles) were also selected on Tuesday.
