Easy to follow step by step recipe to make Classic French Toast with Quick Strawberry Syrup and Fresh Vanilla Whipped Cream.

1 pint fresh strawberries, sliced
1 cup powdered sugar, divided
3 eggs
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract, divided
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 loaf fresh bread, sliced thick
Butter or non-stick spray
1 pint heavy whipping cream

Toss strawberry slices with ½ cup powdered sugar, set aside. Stir and press strawberries every few minutes, to help the berries release their sweet juices—This will be the syrup.

Whisk together eggs, milk, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract and cinnamon. Place a few bread slices into the mixture, turning to coat well.

Set a large sauté pan over medium heat and melt a few pats of butter in it, or spray liberally with non-stick spray. Add in soaked bread, being careful not to crowd the pan, cover and cook for about 3-5 minutes, depending on thickness of slices.

Uncover, flip bread slices over and continue to cook, uncovered until bread slices are firm and golden, about another 3-5 minutes. Keep cooked French toast slices warm in a 300 degree oven while you cook the rest.

Pour cream into a large glass or metal bowl and whisk or use a hand mixer to beat the cream until it forms soft peaks. Add in ½ teaspoon vanilla extract and remaining powdered sugar and beat again just to incorporate.

Spoon whipped cream over French toast slices then top with strawberries and drizzle strawberry syrup over top.
