CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Just in time for the upcoming holiday season, one online retail giant is going the extra mile to make sure your gifts don't end up in the wrong hands.

It's that time of year and police say porch pirates are on the prowl. We've seen it time and time again.

Brazen burglars waiting for the right moment to strike and then making their move.

While police are on the lookout for what could be described as a real-life Grinch, Amazon is doing their best to make sure you don't become a victim.

"I mailed my father a small package last year. Small item, nothing expensive and it got stolen off the porch," said Paul Beck.

The idea is simple. Have your orders shipped to the locker nearest your home or office and pick it up when you have a chance.

In Charlotte, there are 11 different locker locations. There are 20 if you include surrounding cities. The lockers are at participating Quick Trip and 7/11 locations. All you have to do is scan the barcode from your receipt.

"Probably a good idea to keep from having people having things stolen off their property," said Beck.
