1 dead following crash on N. Old Statesville Road in Huntersville

Old Statesville Rd is closed between Stumptown Rd, and Ramah Church Rd, due to the single-vehicle traffic crash.

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A man was killed in a crash on Old Statesville Road in Huntersville Tuesday morning. 

Huntersville firefighters responded to a crash between Stumptown Road and Ramah Church Road around 2 a.m. Huntersville police said a car crashed down an embankment and caught fire. The driver of the car was thrown from the vehicle during the crash. 

Paramedics said the driver, who hasn't been identified, died at the scene. 

Old Statesville Road reopened around 10 am. Tuesday.
