Fall fun, exploring corn mazes in the Charlotte area

Fall is here, so let's get outside and enjoy the cool temperatures at the corn maze.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Fall traditions are back! Costumes, haunted houses, and pumpkins are just some of the fall festivities along with corn mazes.

The fun starts right here at the entrance of Country Days Corn Maze, and it's no walk in the park.

"Lots of times we tell people if they're not out by the time we close, we'll see them the next day and come back to get them, of course we don't mean that," Lisa Phillips explained.

Operations Manager Lisa Phillips with Country Days Corn Maze says both the 7-acre and 3-acres mazes are challenging, yet both pathways are unique and fun to experience since 2003.

"A lot of people will take one trivia category, and they'll work together as a team to try to figure it out. It's a neat family experience," said Phillips.

Phillips says the trivia-themed maze takes about 30 minutes to complete. There's also a kid's maze with a Spookley the Square Pumpkin theme. No matter which path you take, don't worry about getting lost in the at least 8-foot tall crop.

"So if you get lost, you just look for somebody wearing a corn-free shirt and they will help you get out," said Phillips.

Once you find your way out through the trickery of the corn maze, it's quite a rush.

"A lot of them come out hootin' and hollering, you know when they come out and clapping. Laughing. That's the majority," said Phillips.

In addition, there are a number of exciting outdoor activities on site. The paid activities include Chicken Coop Ball, Corn Cannon, Cow Train, Duck Races, Kiddie Striker, Milk-the-Cow, Rat Rollers, Spider Suppertime, Spider Web, Tricycles, Tank Slide among many more. The corn maze also features an augmented reality farm.

This is just one of more than a dozen corn mazes located in the Charlotte area. Country Days Corn Maze is open for business on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and weekdays are for large parties and school groups with a reservation.
