5:30 p.m. - Flood warnings issued for Avery, Burke, McDowell and Mitchell counties until 11:30 p.m.

5 p.m. - Tornado watches cancels early in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus and Gaston counties after the first line moves east, according to Brad Panovich.

5 p.m. - Power outage has caused a few traffic lights to go out along South New Hope Road in Gastonia.

4:45 p.m. - Charlotte Douglas airport's FAA air traffic control tower resumes operations. Click here for possible delays and cancellations at Charlotte Douglas airport.

4:15 p.m. - Golf-ball sized hail battered parts of Gaston County earlier in the afternoon.

4 p.m. - About 2,700 are without power in Rock Hill, according to city officials.

3:40 p.m. - A severe thunderstorm warning for Mecklenburg County has extended to 4:15 p.m.

3:25 p.m. - Charlotte Douglas airport's FAA air traffic control tower was forced to evacuate due to severe weather. Click here for flight information and updates at Charlotte Douglas airport.

3:10 p.m. - Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Kershaw and Lancaster counties until 4 p.m.

3 p.m. - Tornado warnings were issued for Mecklenburg, Gaston and York counties until 3:30 p.m.

2:50 p.m. - Tornado warnings were issued for Lancaster and Fairfield counties until 3:15 p.m.

2:35 p.m. - Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for South Carolina's Cherokee, Chester, Union and York counties until 3:15 p.m.

2:25 p.m. - Circulation develops near the western part of Chester County, S.C.

2:05 p.m. - A tornado warning was issued for Lexington County, S.C., until 2:30 p.m. Brad Panovich said winds are moving northeast at 50 mph.

2 p.m. - A severe thunderstorm warning was briefly issued for Ashe County.

1:15 p.m. - Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Alexander, Burke, Caldwell and Catawba counties until 1:45 p.m. ET.

12:05 p.m. - Tornado watches were issued for Ashe, Burke, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Catawba, Chester (S.C.), Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lancaster (S.C.), Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Union, Watauga and York (S.C.) counties until about 7 p.m.

Noon - Flash flood warnings were issued for Burke, Caldwell and Cleveland counties until around 4 p.m.

11:55 a.m. - Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for South Carolina's Greenville, Laurens and Spartanburg counties until 12:15 p.m.

11 a.m. - Flash flood watches were issued for Avery, Burke, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan and Union counties until about 8 p.m.
