Fall/ Winter Coat Trends for 2013 for Women
One of my favorite times of the year is Fall and Winter. I absolutely enjoy wearing one of the biggest fashion statements you can make: coats and jackets. While of course we wear these items for warmth, you have a great opportunity to add a stylish piece for your wardrobe. There are so many looks available in various colors, silhouettes, cuts and fabrics to fit any size and taste. But if you’re overwhelmed with all those looks, colors, silhouettes and fabrics don’t worry, here are my top fall/winter coat trends for 2013:
The trench coat traditionally is raincoat or waterproof material with removable insulated lining. The garment usually is double breasted with 10 front buttons, wide lapels and belted at the waist or wrists or shoulders. The classic trench never goes out of style, the variations may change but the concept is classic. Consider this look for warmth and light weight comfort for cold or rainy days. Burberry, Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors are some of my favorites for this look.
If you want to be fashionable, make a statement and make people do double and triple takes on your look…incorporate a fur jacket or coat into your wardrobe ensemble. The entire coat or jacket doesn’t have to be made of fur; the fur can be the collar, hem or cuff as an accent. And faux fur is just as fashionable and less expensive.
Coats with Wide Collars or Belts
Take a look at some of your most fashionable women, designers or magazines and you will see coats with wide collars, fasteners or belts. This is a stylish look that can accentuate your waist, narrow it, conceal a large midsection or add a fashionable finishing touch.
While this may not sound attractive, over-sized coats are one of the most stylish, chic looks taking place this season. This is a great style to consider wearing. The cool factor about this look is that it highlights the woman’s silhouette by layering, but the challenge is wearing a bulky garment successfully. The trick is to wear the rest of your wardrobe snug and tailored.
And as always, have fun with your looks! This is a great season for looking your best!
