The Makeup Social Media Experiment
I reached out on Facebook & Twitter and asked women what are some of the newest make up products or trends that they've heard about, but don't get?! I was not surprised by the number one question; "What is BB Cream?"
Q1: What is BB Cream?
You've probably have heard the buzz, but may not have really understood what a BB Cream is. This all-in-one Beauty Balm primes, hydrates, evens, brightens, and perfects the skin in a weightless formulation! For those if you that have experienced issues with matching a foundation to your skin, this is your answer. BB cream is not only trace-less on the skin, it is literally goof-proof. As you begin to blend it on the skin, it color adjust to your complexion leaving it looking radiant and beautiful. This is also great for women who don't like the feel of make up on the skin.
Q2: How do you wear a lip stain?
Lip stains have never been more on trend! Many women love the look of a stain, but have no clue how to achieve the looks gracing the pages of their mags! All you do is grab your favorite creme or matte lipstick, using your ring-finger-tip warm up the lip color straight from tube-to-finger and then gently press in the pucker. Once the center of lip is saturated, blend lips together to maneuver the shade to the lip line. This technique is key! If you press the shade with your fingertip to the lip line, it can migrate outside your lip line. A great tip if you are a lip stain amateur is to use a lip color close to your natural lip color.
Q3: What is the correct way to use bronzer?
Rule #1: Choose a LIQUID bronzer! Powder bronzers mix with the oils in your skin and start to oxidize causing the powder to darken and many times get more orange in tone. With a liquid bronzer, you never have that issue. Liquid bronzers also are more true-to-color as far as looking naturally tanned. Give it a try and you'll never go back to powder bronzer!
Q4: Where do you use a highlighter?
It's all about lighting! Adding light to cast away shadows can erase years from your face! Many women have heard about highlighting, but truly don't have a clue how to do it. There are some primary spots on the face where adding light is a must. First, it needs to be under the eye and swept onto the cheek plane (above the cheekbone). Next, you should highlight down the center of the face (center of forehead, bridge of the nose, and chin). This creates a soft cast of light on the face and softens imperfections.
This month's life trend is all about inner beauty. As much fun as it is to play in makeup and beautify the outside, it's more important to beautify the inside. I believe inner beauty is the direct result of loving yourself and others with an unconditional love! When we feel good about ourselves, we treat others better. It is through this process of unconditional love that we learn to let our inner light shine.
