Secret No. 1: Turn partially-3/4 sideways to the camera, planting one foot in front of the other. Point your toe to the camera and shift your weight on to your back foot.
Secret No. 2: Pull your head forward and turn your chin ever so slightly to minimize any appearance of a double chin.
Secret No. 3: In any occasion, hold your arms slightly away from your body. This keeps upper arm flab from flattening out and therefore appearing flabbier (much like thighs do when one sits on a couch).  Be carefull not to press arms to hard up against your child, hubby, boyfriend… keep them soft for a slimmer look.
Secret No. 4: Be aware of your posture.  Pull your houlders back, chest forward and gently suck your stomach in. Be careful not to suck your stomach so far in that your ribs show, making it obvious that you're "sucking it in!!"
Secret No. 5: The "Look Away". To do this, look away from the camera, then turn towards it, breaking into a smile just before the camera clicks. Your smile will appear fresh, not frozen. This trick takes practice behind closed, locked doors!!  To minimize squints close your eyes until the second before the shutter clicks.
Final thought: The angle matters.  If you can help it, never let the photographer shoot up!  Shooting down creates a much more flattering line.
