American blended wines are absolutely perfect for Thanksgiving dinner—a great pairing with turkey and an embodiment of our country

Certain wines have a lot in common with the philosophy that is the basis of our country—E pluribus unum, out of many, one. We’re one nation formed from 13 colonies and one people forged from many nationalities, we’re a blend.

So, it seems only right to celebrate Thanksgiving with a wine formed by blending together wines from different grapes.

Why blend? To make something that’s greater than the sum of its parts, complement and balance until you come up with a wine that expresses a winemaker’s view of perfection.

There are many types of American blended wines. What we’re going to taste today are wines blended in the style of the Bordeaux region of France. They’re called Meritage wines.

We’ll start with a wine from the Central Coast region of California.
