LUANNE STUART -- Creator of “CHARLOTTE TODAY”

Luanne Stuart is the Creative Services Director for WCNC - NewsChannel 36. She oversees station promotions and works closely with the CHARLOTTE TODAY staff. Luanne’s extensive professional experience in broadcasting – including work as a reporter, news anchor, promotions producer and marketing director – provided the groundwork for the concept that became CHARLOTTE TODAY. You will see the Oklahoma native, occasionally, as a “food contributor” on CHARLOTTE TODAY. Cooking is a passion for Luanne and she uses her tried-and-true ideas for shortening meal preparation times in her daily life. The single, working mother has discovered some shorts cuts for getting dinner on the table … and viewers will reap the benefits of those tips.

MARY ALVAREZ - EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, LOCAL PROGRAMMING

Mary Alvarez is marking her 26th year in television with the launch of CHARLOTTE TODAY. Her career has focused on news for the past two-and-a-half decades, with producing and management stints in Tallahassee, Miami and Charlotte. Mary’s work has been recognized with numerous awards, including regional Emmy’s and a prestigious George Foster Peabody award. The Florida native is also a mother of five (yes, five!) children who range in age from 14 to 23. Mary loves spending time with them, as well as horseback riding and playing tennis.

ALLISON ANDREWS - PRODUCER

Allison Andrews believes TV should be fun… and Charlotte Today isn’t the first fun project she and Host Colleen Odegaard have worked on together. In fact, they started the morning show on WCNC back in September of 1998! Considering that Charlotte Today also has the same director, the show is a little like putting ‘the band back together!’ In almost 12 years at the station, Allison has also produced the 6pm news, and numerous live events. She has been Executive Producer for News, and Special Projects Manager overseeing the investigative unit and Carolina Traveler. Before moving to Charlotte, Allison produced a lifestyle/entertainment show in San Francisco. For her, Charlotte Today is a blank page with endless possibilities. And -- according to her husband and daughter Sidney – that’s the way Allison likes it.

BOB CARROLL - ASSOCIATE PRODUCER

Since joining the CHARLOTTE TODAY staff in mid-January, Bob has quickly fit in with the group. In a staff meeting early on, he was described by a co-worker as an “unusual man”… and we promise it was meant in the nicest way possible. He has also impressed his fellow CHARLOTTE TODAY staffers with his “pretty handwriting”. Before moving to the Charlotte area in June of 2008, Bob spent 12 years in the sports television industry in Philadelphia. Concurrently, he produced a radio morning show for nine years in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware. Bob and his wife, Katherine, currently reside just south of the state border in South Carolina with their two daughters, Katelyn and Madison.

MATTHEW HAMMOND - PHOTOGRAPHER

Matt is a storyteller at heart. He loves to introduce folks at home to the interesting people and places found in the Carolinas. For Matt, being a photographer means getting to experience and document all that this community has to offer. The best part...sharing those stories with the audience. More than a decade behind the lens has yielded a few awards, hundreds of great stories and countless new friends. When he's away from work, Matt spents time with his loving family and enjoys playing a little music, from time to time.

JON SCHIGODA – SENIOR VIDEO EDITOR

Jon enjoys working with raw video to tell entertaining and compelling stories. Jon also puts together commercials and promotional spots through editing, compositing and creating graphics. He does sound design for show opens and animations. Jon has won a national Emmy for his work on a series of Child Abuse Prevention public service announcements. During more than 20 years at NewsChannel 36, the Detroit native has worked as a director, technical director and video editor. When he is not at work, Jon is a musician …playing bass in various clubs and restaurants in the Charlotte area.

STEPHEN REYNOLDS - SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER/PRODUCER

Born to a military family, Stephen has spent most of his life traveling. From living in Saudi Arabia to graduating from high school in Mallorca, Spain, Stephen was fortunate enough to see much of the world at an early age. A proud graduate of the University of Oklahoma, the Texas native began his television career at KOTV in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After a short stint in Springfield, Missouri, Stephen moved to Charlotte to join the team at WCNC in 1999. Stephen has won numerous awards for his work at WCNC – including seven Emmy awards and two Edward R. Murrow awards. Stephen has been named North Carolina Photographer of the Year twice. In his free time, Stephen is an avid triathlete. He has completed two Ironman races, five half-Ironman races and over a dozen other triathlons. In 2010, he plans to complete his first Ultra-marathon… a 30-mile mountain trail run in Virginia.
