CHARLOTTE, N.C. - In 1909, President Taft was in office, the North Pole was discovered, the Wright Brothers delivered the 1st military plane to the army and George Deaton was born. At 103 years young, George says there is nothing left to cross off his bucket list.
George grew up a humble farmer in Mecklenburg County and says the fresh air and hard work made him strong. He was a fire chief and later a volunteer fire fighter at the mallard creek station for over 20 years.
George has lived through 10 wars and was married for 79 years until his wife’s passing in 2009. We here at Charlotte Today would love to wish him well on his 103rd birthday.
