CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- He didn’t win the million dollar prize on “Survivor”, but runner-up Chase Rice won enough money to pack his bags and head to Nashville to pursue his music career.

The former UNC football player and aspiring musician performed Monday on Charlotte Today.

Rice said people really didn’t know he wanted to be a musician until he performed during the live finale of ‘Survivor’.

Rice has an EP coming out on Valentine’s Day called “Country is Me”.

Prior to being on ‘Survivor’, Rice was a jack man for Hendrick Motorsports for about a year.  He wore a Hendrick baseball cap for most of the taping.

Rice lost a total of 34 pounds during his time on “Survivor”.

“If we’re eating dinner and people leave food on their plate, I’m like hold on, we’re not leaving that.  Let me finish that.  I’ll eat it,” Rice said.

Rice says he still keeps in touch with a few of the people on “Survivor” including Benry.
