5 Essential Must Haves for Your Wardrobe
What are some of the key pieces I should have in my closet?  I get this question all the time.  And it’s a valid question.  I think we all have had that moment where we look into our closet and feel like we have nothing to wear.  The key to addressing this issue…Incorporate several key pieces that allows you to easily transition from one ensemble to the next.  So I have named some of my favorite pieces that can allow you to create many, different combinations.
White Dress Shirt – This staple item can be worn with just about everything.  It’s important to choose a high quality, with a slight stretch to ensure durability and longevity.  I would suggest the Gap, or J. Crew $69
Black Pumps – Whether leather or patent leather, pointed toe, square or round these “make or break an outfit” shoes are great from taking you from work to play.  You don’t necessarily need a very high heel (2 inches will do you) and shoe jewelry can add a little flair as well.  Consider major department stores or major shoes stores to have the best options.
Chinese Laundry $69
Perfect Fitting Jeans – Everyone talks about having one pair of perfect jeans…I think you should have two!  Two different styles that fit you perfectly will give you additional options when pairing items with your jeans.  Whether skinny fit, slim fit, straight leg, boot cut, boyfriend fit, fitted fit, flared or wide leg.  The choice is yours, just choose two.  And I enjoy Luck jeans because they have different styles for different body types.  Also consider different colors, ie white or black.
Luck Brand, $99                    7 for All Mankind,  $168
Black Dress – These dresses can go from work to play in an instant!  Whether you add a blazer, cardigan, belt, or accessories; the choice is yours!  The black dress is like a blank canvas that allows you dress it up anyway you want…so have fun!  But keep in mind to stay away from heavy wool fabrics that counteract the slimming effects of the color and limit wear during the warmer seasons.
Nicole Miller, $193
Trench Coat – It’s important to have a nice coat that will help you look sophisticated and add to your overall ensemble.  They are wonderful as all weather coats are classic pieces that won’t lose their relevance.
Vince Camuto, $119
These pieces will add so much versatility to your wardrobe.  Remember, you are making investments to your collection so choose wisely and consider the cost per wear!
