As you strive to achieve greater life balance, the first place to start is with positive thinking. This is something that you can do on a daily basis without much effort at all. By thinking positively on a daily basis, you can change the outcome of your life. In addition to many other benefits, Positive thinking is good for your health and happiness. It also gives you an optimistic outlook to your future. Below are some tips to help you balance life through positive thinking.
#1. Look for the positive aspect of a situation. There are situations that happen to us in life that initially appear negative. However, if you take a different approach to how you analyze the situation, you will see the positive in the mist of the negative situation. For example: Losing a job can be frightening with the loss of income, and all the energy that it will take to find a new job. However, the job loss can actually be an opportunity for you to start your own business or change careers to something that would be more rewarding. Always be grateful that it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
#2 Create a pre and post positive list. Write down the positive things that you want to accomplish today. Then at the end of the day, look back over your list and see all of the positive things you were able to accomplish. This will help you view your day in a positive way, because you will see how effective you are at accomplishing your goals. This allows you to focus on what you want and what you will need to do to get the goal accomplished.
#3 Encourage Yourself daily. Use constructive language and motivating phrases when you are talking to yourself about what you can do. Tell yourself that you can do anything that you put your mind to. You have to be your own cheerleader.
#4. Smile more often and have a sense of humor. A smile can be the difference between whether you are treated nicely or not. Just by smiling more, you will draw more positive people to you. Even if you are struggling with the thought of smiling more, begin to think about the many beautiful blessings you have in your life, including life itself. Developing a sense of humor about life’s challenges is an effective coping technique that can actually lead to better overall health as well as simple stress management. Having a sense of humor will help you put life’s challenges in perspective and allow you to maintain a level of positivity throughout the process.
#5. Don’t be a sponge for negative people (Allowing people to pour their negativity onto you). There are some people that constantly share negativity with you every time you speak with them. They pour all of their negativity on you and leave you weighted down and they leave feeling burden free. They never have anything positive to say. This may mean you need to stop hanging around with these types of people.
#6. Let other people run their own lives: One of the quickest things that can get you out of character is when someone is not doing things the way you know they should. Trying to control other people and their lives will instantly break you out of a positive mental place. There are times when you will have to speak up about a situation, but most of the time it is just something that someone is doing that just rubs you the wrong way. The only person you can control is YOU.
