NoDa hosts an art crawl Friday night and the Good Dog! Spring Fling Saturday.

USA Canoe/Kayak National Team Trials See elite athletes battle for positions on the USA teams. See some future Olympians paddle at the U.S. National Whitewater Center. The trials take place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9:15am to 2pm. The only cost to watch is $5 parking.

Concord Art Walk Starting around 6pm, enjoy artwork in galleries throughout downtown Concord. It’s all free, as is the live music and the screening of the independent film, All About Dad, at Davis Theatre at 9pm.

NoDa, centered around 36th Street and North Davidson Street in Charlotte, also has an arts crawl this evening. Highlights are Espada Bicycle’s One Year Anniversary Party, and the Save Charlotte’s Music benefit concert at Neighborhood Theatre ($5 donation.)

Storytelling concert with  internationally-renowned storyteller Antonio Rocha at ImaginOn’s Wachovia Playhouse at 7:15pm.


Dia del Nino This multicultural children’s festival takes place at McDowell Nature Preserve from 11am to 3pm and includes free family fishing, bait and gear provided, cultural talks, crafts, storytime provided by Charlotte Mecklenburg Libraries, food, fun, and facepainting, and a performance at 2pm by the bilingual children’s band Criss Cross Mangosauce.

Sensoria, CPCC’s arts and culture festival, culminates in Sensoria Saturday, with free live music, arts, and more from 10am to 4pm on the main campus. Charlotte Clean and Green, the Earth Day-inspired festival, shares the space.

Good Dog! Spring Fling Watch dogs compete in fun games at Good Dog! At 2112 N. Davidson Street, from 11am to 7pm. There is no fee for spectators.

Kings Drive Art Walk Enjoy the newly spiffed up greenway and the art that will be displayed along it. 11am to 6pm

Wild Over Lake Norman
11am to 3pm at Energy Explorium in Huntersville. This free outdoor celebration includes family fun like pony rides as well as activities to teach you and your family about gardening, animals, and composting.


Kings Drive Art Walk
Second day of the art walk along Little Sugar Creek Greenway.. 11am to 5pm

Secret Poets Society’s open-mic takes place at 6pm at Dolce Vita Wine Bar at 3205 N. Davidson Street. No cover.
