Learn more about Day of the Dead by taking part in one of Charlotte's celebrations. On el Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead), friends and families remember those they have lost, mourning and celebrating at the same time. They bring flowers, food, and drink to the burial grounds.
Pura Vida Worldly Art is observing Day of the Dead by having local artists create brightly colored tombstones to commemorate the lives of people they have lost. The tombstones will be placed in a cemetery behind the store at 3202 North Davidson Street. Don't worry. There are no actual bodies buried! The public is invited to visit the cemetery, see the tombstones, and remember their own lost loved ones. They can picnic and even camp out there overnight, Nov. 1, starting at 6pm.
Levine Museum of the New South is also offering a Day of the Dead Celebration. On Sunday, October 31st, from 12pm to 4pm, enjoy storytelling, food, ceremonial altars, and more. All free.
