First Night Charlotte isn't free, but considering the amount of entertainment it's offering, it's definitely a bargain. Tickets are $12 if you get them New Year's Eve, but only $10 if you buy them in advance. There will be live music, dancing, a parade, kids' activities, a countdown to midnight, and general alcohol-free festivities in downtown Charlotte.
Revolution Pizza, at 3228 North Davidson Street, is offering a New Year's Eve extravaganza with no cover charge. There will be live music, a champagne toast at midnight, and even a free buffet breakfast afterwards.
Celebrate the New Year, British-style, at Big Ben British Restaurant & Pub. There's no cover charge for either of their parties – one celebrates the New Year as it occurs in the UK, at 7 p.m., and the other culminates at our midnight. There will be live music and party favors.
On Friday, January 1st, New Year's Day, Rural Hill is hosting a Scottish tradition, First Footin'. Join them at 11 a.m. to walk the property, stopping periodically to hear stories from history and folklore. After the walk, enjoy a performance of Stone Soup and a luncheon. It's free, but please bring something share at the lunch.
