Count me among those stunned by the Bobcats work to acquire Stephen Jackson from Golden State.
Jackson is a 31 year old scorer who's earned his reputation as "disgruntled." He's been fined and suspended; blamed by his teammates for all sorts of ills; and he publicly lobbied for a trade to a contender. Last check - the Bobcats don't qualify.
This smacks of desperation for a franchise that suffers from fan apathy and indifference. The lowest scoring team in the NBA needed someone who could score in a hurry but at what cost?
Maybe hall of fame coach Larry Brown is the one man who can keep Jackson focused on basketball. In all fairness Jackson has done his fair share of good deeds back home in Port Arthur, Texas. He's paid his dues to get to the NBA. Maybe something clicks. Or maybe the Bobcats get all kinds of recognition for all the wrong reasons. I hope not. The NBA in Charlotte is running out of time and second chances.
