MORGANTON, N.C. -- Larry Putnam was named the new Burke County Public Schools Superintendent Tuesday night.
Putnam received a unanimous 7-0 vote from the board. He had been serving as the interim superintendent since August.
The vote and announcement came during a special called meeting Tuesday at the West Concord Street Recourse Center.
Putnam officially replaces the position previously held by Art Stellar.
Putnam, 45, has been with the school system since 1995 when he began as a teacher.
