BOONE, N.C. -- The Boone Police Department will have more officers around Watauga High School Wednesday morning after rumors of threats of violence have been circulating at the school.

Police said they and school administrators have decided to take the proactive stance to ensure student safety.

Faculty, staff, and students are urged to attend school as usual.

Police said that if anyone sees any suspicious activity, or if anyone has any information regarding the threats, they should call the Boone Police Department at 828-268-6900 or 911.
