CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NewsChannel 36 is patrolling school zones on Charlotte-Mecklengburg's first day of school.

It's part of a new series called "Street of Speed" where our WCNC crews will go to school zones where speeders are a common problem.

NewsChannel 36's Ben Thompson will be out using his own radar gun to monitor the speeds of drivers in front of several schools in the area.

He starts the morning at Rama Road Elementary School monitoring traffic off of this busy road.

Police will also be out monitoring speed limits and traffic laws on the first day of school, too.
