INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. -- When it comes to students being kind to others, we didn’t have to look any further than a star football player at Porter Ridge High School who’s making moves on and off the field.
17-year-old Najee Davis was recently nominated as part of our acts of kindness campaign for helping others.
In addition to football, band, National Honor Society and, yes, the list goes on, he also signed up for a peer tutoring class where he helps students with special needs.
"We work with puzzles and we count money. If they ask me a question, I come over and help them. We talk about things, work out problems just things like that,” said Davis.
For all he does in the classroom, it’s what he does outside of it, that’s making a difference, too.
"When I see my friends in the hallway and I'm walking with one of these students, I make sure I acknowledge my friend and I make sure my friend acknowledges my friend that I have walking with me,” said Davis.
And the students love him for it and we got to see why.
Davis was given a huge hug when he helped one of the students finish a puzzle.
Sometimes, it’s those kinds of moments that might just make even some of the biggest plays on the football field not seem so big after all.
