DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The McKinney Academy in Davidson is proud to partner with the Foundation for Respect Ability to hold a free anti-bullying concert on March 27 at 2 p.m.

McKinney Academy is located at 412 Armour Street in Davidson.

This educational and uplifting concert will include the children from the McKinney Academy Performing Arts Group and will introduce a new song written by Sid Krupkin especially for the occasion. The program will last approximately an hour and will include songs that emphasize what it is liked to be bullied, skits with parents and children demonstrating bullying situations, and strategies on how to deal with these situations as they occur.

Sid Krupkin is the Foundation for Respect Ability's Director of Education and is also a local educator and musician. He will be the featured performer for the event and will be conducting future concerts and awareness programs designed to appeal to children, teenagers and adults.

Sid says, "The event's musical program was chosen to create audience interaction and allow people to connect emotionally and practically to these pressing issues."

The music will range from the folk tradition of the 60’s to the upbeat modern songs of today. The inspirational song "Don't Laugh At Me," written by Allen Shamblin and Steve Seskin, has been a catalyst for hundreds of workshops around the world and it is also the theme song for the event.

This concert is free and open to the public.  Any person who is interested or concerned with the issues of bullying, cyber-bullying, intimidation, exclusion and the violence that affects our schools, our families and our communities, will find this event to be both uplifting and useful.
