MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. -- When students take field trips, the goal is for them to take something away from the experience. But for a group of students at Mountain Island Charter School in Mount Holly, it's what they left behind that's making quite the impression.
Recently students visited Charleston, South Carolina to learn more about slavery.
But these students did more than just take pictures. They raised $600 and donated some of it to help preserve historic monuments there.
They also gave their tour guides some gift cards for Starbucks.
This is just one way students are giving to their schools, communities and beyond. It falls in line with the message of Rachel's Challenge, a message of spreading kindness.
